How do I begin therapy?
If you’ve never been in therapy before, you may not know where to start. The first step is to email or call to let me know that you’re interested in setting up an appointment. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org and 202-540-8244.
You may feel a little uncomfortable doing this, but I’ll do my best to help you feel at ease.
We may have a brief phone conversation so that I can get a sense of what you’d like to work on in therapy (it’s fine if you’re not sure). Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. We’ll schedule an appointment time, usually within two weeks, if you decide you’d like to meet with me.
Do you have evening appointments? What about Phone or Skype appointments?
I offer morning, afternoon, and evening appointments at my Dupont Circle office.
Once we’ve established an in-person counseling relationship, phone or Skype sessions may be possible if you’re out of town or unable to meet at my office.
What if I’m having a crisis?
If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis, please call 911 or the DC Crisis Line at 202.561.7000 (24 hours) right away. I am not able to provide urgent, on-call, or after-hours services.
