How do I begin therapy?
If you’ve never been in therapy before, you may not know where to start. The first step is to email or call to let us know that you’re interested in setting up an appointment. You can reach out to me at lisa@lisasmithpsychotherapy.com or, if you’d like to work with another of our therapists, can directly contact Courtney Fraser, Allison Miller, or Carolyn Bell.
You may feel a little uncomfortable doing this, but we’ll do our best to help you feel at ease.
We may have a brief phone conversation so that we can get a sense of what you’d like to work on in therapy (it’s fine if you’re not sure). Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. We’ll schedule an appointment time, usually within two weeks, if you decide you’d like to meet.
Do you have evening appointments? What about video appointments?
We offer morning, afternoon, and evening appointments by video or in-person.
What if I’m having a crisis?
If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis, please call 911 or the DC Crisis Line at 202.561.7000 (24 hours) right away. We are not able to provide urgent, on-call, or after-hours services.
